New finds

I’ve been a very bad blogger. Who would have thought blogging would be so difficult sometimes?? It’s really hard to find the motivation to take photos, edit them and write up a post when you’re in school and working full time. I’m going to try to balance things out a bit better so I won’t be neglectful of the ole’ blog. I won’t be posting Monday-Saturday as I originally planned, but I will try to make the posts happen at least once or twice a week.

I did want to share some recent finds! I purchased this 1940s floral dress and 1940s floral skirt off eBay (sadly, there was a jacket to go with the skirt- matching! But someone else won that bid:( ) And Elizabeth picked up this GORGEOUS 1930s number for me at an antique store in upstate NY! Do I have great friends or what??

The gathers!

I think this shows the print and colors the best- and that waist detail! I love it!

I am less than thrilled though, with the amount of work that it is going to take bringing this babe back to her former glory. I really hate it when vintage sellers downplay flaws.

Isn’t she gorgeous!?!? Elizabeth texted me RIGHT away and then we Facetimed while she showed me the dress. What? Don’t you do that with your vintage-obsessed friends? 🙂

The belt! So fabulous! (Not bakelite)

I am so seriously in love with this dress- it’s so simple, classic and elegant. I love it. It is a smudge too big for me and has a tiny bit of staining, so I’ve got some work to do to get her wear-ready.

Isn’t this print divine? I am still so bummed I didn’t win the bid on the jacket. And more bewildered that no one else bid against me on the skirt- wouldn’t the jacket winner want the skirt, too? Is that just me?

You can probably see some of the staining here- it’s in such an awkward place on the skirt, it hits you right at the.. ahem.. lady-bits.. and looks BAD. I have got to work on that too now.

So there you have it. Three vintage beauties, all with much needed TLC coming up. When I can find time. Ugh. I miss sleep.

Now, I’m off to do homework!
